Garra Rufa is the breed of Doctor Fish used originally for
the treatment of skin conditions such as Psoroasis back in Turkey for the past 400 years!
Originating from the Carp family of fishes, this unique breed has
the characteristics of a "nibbler" due to the scarcity of food that their fore-fathers went through in the hot springs where
micro-organisms are barely able to exist.
Thus, it has always been in their DNA that they have passed down
the line for the past 400 years till now!
It is being researched in Turkey regarding the secretions that Garra Rufa produces. It is termed
as "diathanol" and is said to be able to regenerate the human skin's healing process at a much faster rate.
However, do beware that there are many imitations or "look alike" around. Some are distant
relative of the Garra Rufa and has no characteristics like their original cousins. Many have reportedly purchased imitations
and were disappointed at their performance & death-rate.
It is said that these imitations might spread diseases in a sharing pool from persons with
infected wounds, cuts or even skin conditions.
